Slip and Falls Owen Ahearn

Weather conditions including ice, snow, and rain can cause slips and falls. In areas where this is a problem, you can improve safety by:

· Ensuring that all exterior lights are working. Increase lighting wattage and coverage as needed

· Utilizing snow stakes to show parking lot surfaces versus walkways

· Providing additional traction mats where needed

· Removing ice and snow buildup from parking lots, garages, and sidewalks promptly

· Placing freezing weather warning signs and monitors at entrances to parking areas and walkways

· Displaying contact numbers for the maintenance department so people can report conditions

· Placing bins of ice-melting chemicals in outdoor areas of heavy pedestrian traffic

· Regularly checking on the weather conditions and acting responsibly
